RMAN Restore level 0 from tape backup unable to locate baclup piece set

1724675Feb 3 2018 — edited Feb 5 2018

Greetings,

Exadata running 12c. Using RMAn catalog.

Did a level 0 backup of some huge tablespaces. Ran these to tape. Tape backups got copied to secondary for offsite. Located new tapes, updated RMAN.BP with new tape numbers. Using Netbackup, however we push to Netbackup using RMAN. The data is in ASM's flash recovery area when it's sent to tape. In any case in attempting to test a mock recovery I'm getting this "Unable to locate backup piece set" for the tablespace, although it's in the rman catalog and netbackup as well. I'm guessing now. I've done a bplist and see that the piece and tape match the piece and tape in RMAN. There is no level 0 DISK listed for that date in the RMAN catalog, however I didn't think that would matter. We're not keeping 2 years on disk. We keep 1 week. We expect to be able to restore from tape.

What am I not getting? Do I need to recatalog the existence of the disk version of that TAG before it will work?

That doesn't make any sense to me.
