I am trying to test a RMAN Backup in our environment.
I have a taken a LEVEL 0 IMAGE COPY of database and trying to restore on other server. It is asking to open the database in RESETLOG.
When the backup is taken in MOUNT state plus I have taken all the archivelog and the current controlfile as well.
Steps Performed. I am using the recovery catalog.
1) In Mount State
>> BACKUP INCREMENTAL LEVEL 0 AS COPY DATABASE TAG 'IMAGECOPY1';
2) Open the database.. Did some transaction.Then took the incremental backup.
>> BACKUP INCREMENTAL LEVEL 1 RECOVER FOR COPY WITH TAG 'IMAGECOPY1' DATABASE;>> RECOVER COPY OF DATABASE TAG 'IMAGECOPY1'
3) Finally I took the backup of archivelog and current controlfile.
>> BACKUP AS COPY ARCHIVELOG ALL;
>> BACKUP AS COPY CURRENT CONTROLFILE;
4) SCP THE image copies to the destination.
Did the restore and recover. All done well. While opening the database it asking to open in reset log.
NOte: Also I tried with the level 0 backup with incrementing it .. even it is asking for RESETLOG while opening the database
