RMAN format and v$flash_recovery_area_usage

mkamirs2014Mar 22 2017 — edited Mar 22 2017

We have a 12c database and we are trying to configure RMAN to go to flash recovery area

Here is flash recovery area settings

db_recovery_file_dest                string      /u06/oracle/oradata/fra

db_recovery_file_dest_size           big integer 1250G

we wanted the RMAN backup to have a certain format so we used the below

CONFIGURE CHANNEL DEVICE TYPE DISK FORMAT   '/u06/oracle/oradata/fra/%T_%d_%I_%U.BKP' MAXPIECESIZE 10 G;

we then fired up a backup and it completed successfully

but when we query v$flash_recovery_area_usage we dont see the backup related information there and we are wondering why is that the case

FILE_TYPE               PERCENT_SPACE_USED PERCENT_SPACE_RECLAIMABLE NUMBER_OF_FILES     CON_ID

----------------------- ------------------ ------------------------- --------------- ----------

CONTROL FILE                             0                         0               0          0
