RMAN Failing

504575Jul 13 2006 — edited Jul 17 2006
Hello,

When I am attempting to connect to an Oracle instance using RMAN, I receive the following error:

Recovery Manager: Release 10.2.0.2.0 - Production on Thu Jul 13 09:17:38 2006

Copyright (c) 1982, 2005, Oracle. All rights reserved.

ORACLE error from target database:
ORA-04031: unable to allocate 40792 bytes of shared memory ("shared pool","DBMS_
RCVMAN","PL/SQL MPCODE","BAMIMA: Bam Buffer")
ORA-06508: PL/SQL: could not find program unit being called: "SYS.DBMS_RCVMAN"

error executing package DBMS_RCVMAN in TARGET database
RMAN-00571: ===========================================================
RMAN-00569: =============== ERROR MESSAGE STACK FOLLOWS ===============
RMAN-00571: ===========================================================
RMAN-00554: initialization of internal recovery manager package failed
RMAN-06429: TARGET database is not compatible with this version of RMAN

Also, when attempting to connect to the Maintenance > Manage Current Backups within the web-based Oracle Enterprise Manager Database Control, I receive a similar error. To my knowledge, no patches have been applied to the system since this has occurred. What would be the most likely problem causing this? Thanks for any assistance.
