RMAN catalog schema with multiple instances

Hi,

Is it correct that multiple instances can be registered with 1 catalog schema instead of 1 instance for 1 separate RMAN catalog schema ?
If so, I have multiple instances, whenever login to RMAN catalog to backup an instance, DBID must be set, is it correct ?
Do I need to set the ORACLE_HOME AND ORACLE_SID to backup each instance ?
