RMAN backup using FRA on NAS-storage

Hi,

I inherit a database that does not use the FRA for the RMAN backup.

The RMAN backup is directly saved on a NAS-storage.

Does someone know any reason for not using the FRA (Fast Recovery Area)?

Is it wise to use the FRA when db_recovery_file_dest is on a NAS-storage?

I have in mind that at least (standard) one of the redo logs is saves in the FRA.
