RMAN backup pieces on ocfs?

Hello,

We are wanting to use ocfs for our shared RMAN backup partition. Are RMAN backup pieces considered database files that can be reliably written to ocfs? Is this an acceptable use for ocfs?

We are currently using ocfs 1.0.9-12 on RHAS2.1, 2.4.9-e.38enterprise kernel.
Running Oracle 9iR2 (9.2.0.4) RAC (2 nodes).
Shared file systems are on IBM FAStT900 fiber channel SAN.
