RMAN Backup and Gather stats are running are very slow

Hi,

In one of our production server the gather stats and rman backup are runnig very slow.

The DB version is 10.2.0.2 on Linux.

RMAN backup is going on to DISK only.

Can anyone please suggest me what are the scenarios i need to check to resolve the issue.
