RMAN-20242: specification does not match any archive log in the recovery ca

I moved the archive log destination by altering the init.ora file and bouncing the database.
There was a great deal of archive logs that were generated due to moving a huge table to another table space.
I have to now delete the archive logs and then continue the rman backups.
I logged to the database from rman with connect target as sys...
I am able to do the
crosscheck archive log all and get all the archive logs validated.
but when i try to delete the archive logs, it gives the above error.
Please help.
