RMAN-20020: database incarnation not set

Hi,
I have registered the target database in rman and while backup the database I am getting the following error:
RMAN-03002: failure of backup command at 04/10/2008 09:33:02
RMAN-03014: implicit resync of recovery catalog failed
RMAN-06004: ORACLE error from recovery catalog database: RMAN-20020: database in
carnation not set

Please help me
