RMAN-06139 - Physical Standby Backup

James G KAug 6 2019 — edited Aug 7 2019

Hi community,

I receive an 'RMAN-06139: WARNING: control file is not current' when I use 'report schema'. The paths for the datafiles and temp files are correct. This only happens on the physical standby when I connect using the control file. If I'm using our recovery catalog in the connection there is no warning, and the paths are the same. There is a difference in the reported datafile sizes however. Sizes are larger in the controlfile then when connected to the catalog, even after a resync.

A little background. We take backup sets and archivelog backups on the standby using the control file. After the backup is complete we connect to the catalog and resync (resync catalog) which completes a partial resync. We do this because if a timeout occurs with the catalog while a backup is in process it fails. Resyncing after the backup is (I think) a suitable workaround, but if I'm mistaken please let me know. Also, we have no access to the primary database which is under the control of a 3rd party. It's a very unique situation: they ship us logs that we use for our ADG physical copy (for reporting, etc.). Database is 12.1.0.2.5.

I'd like to know if the warning can be ignored or if there's something I should do differently.

Thanks
