Restoring RCAT and Target Database in Remote Machine
We are facing certain recoverability issues when exercised as Disaster Recovery Procedure.
The whole application (Banking) is been hosted in Oracle 8.17.4 Database Server under SunOS platform with RMAN as a backup interface.
The whole backup procedure goes as follows.
Pls Note that all actions are performed on daily basis.RMAN Level2 Backup is taken at end of the day, followed by batch processes. As soon as the batch is over we take a RMAN Level0 Backup. Both RMAN Level2 and Level0 backups includes Database and ArchiveLogs.
Only @ WeekEnd.RMAN Cold Backup is taken (Database and ArchiveLogs).
Recovery Catalog of RMAN (COLD BACKUP) is been backed up after every successful backup operation .i.e. RMAN Level0 ,RMAN Level2 and RMAN Cold Backup.
I don’t face any issues when I try to Restore and Recover the target database in the same machine (host)(as a part of backup evaluation).
As a part of Backup Evaluation, We are asked to test the Restoration and Recovery Procedure in a different machine as follows.
1. Transfer the Latest RCAT Cold Backup and its respective Backup sets in the Disaster Recovery Box.
2. Restore and Recover the Latest RMAN Cold Backup of the target database in the Disaster Recovery Box.
3. Apply the Latest RMAN Level0(L0) and RMAN Level2(L2) backups to make the Disaster Recovery Instance same as the target database.
I am facing certain problem when exercising Step 2, with an error message reading
“…implicit resync of recovery catalog failed..” followed by “..invalid high RECID error ..”
CAN SOME ONE PLS help me finding a solution for this without completely revamping the backup strategy, since it will have to under go series of changes.
