Restore and recovery Live database to test server

User_QGQFIFeb 21 2015 — edited Feb 22 2015

Hi All,

   Oracle DB version:  11.2.0.3.0

   OS version:   RHEL 5.10

I want to restore production database (live) backup to one of the test server. The live database(prod) is backed up with recovery catalog and the media management layer is symantec NetBackup.Test server is also able to connect to catalog server. I dont want to copy the backup pieces to a disk and do the restoration. Instead I would like to use direct link to Netbackup through recovery catalog from Test DB server.

Can anyone help me out to perform the db restoration through catalog server on Test server. I already copied spfile from production to test server. The only worry I have is if I perform the restoration to test server by having same production db name and files paths and performing the restoration directly by having link from test server to catalog server.will there be any impact on the live production db if there is any archived log or incremental backup going on during the restoration process??

Regards,

Imranullah
