Restarting Long Running Query After Running Table Statistics Due to Stale Stats

Rob JonesApr 20 2025

hi,

I'm using Oracle 19c. We had a situation in Production where a query was running too slowly. SQL Tuning Advisor showed that one of the tables in the query had stale statistics. So, I ran stats on the table, but the query was still running and completed 30 minutes later. Subsequent query executions ran sub-second. Does anyone know if there's any way for the existing query to “reset” and use the newly available statistics?
