ResourceManager vs Profiles

What are the main points of difference between Oracle Profiles and Resource Manager.
Is it that Profiles is a subset of ResourceManager or is it something parallel in concept.
More or less both these features tend to manage the same thing; as far as the documentation goes it is mentioned that ResourceManager is more of a sophisticated framework. Is it all? Or there is something more to it?
