Resize temporary tablespace

Hi all,
I have to resize the temporary tablespace in an important production environment.

Note 274283.1 says to create a new smaller tempfile iin the same temporary tbs and drop the old one.
Note 160681.1 says to create a new default temporary tbs and drop the old one.

Should I follow metalink note 274283.1 or note 160681.1 ?
