Repository licensing

Paolo GrifaSep 1 2017 — edited Sep 1 2017

Hi all

I am building a new Forms 12c env for migrating 11g and 6i forms. For the proof of concept installation I have installed a separate repository, but now I wanted to create repository schemas in a new database in the same server that contains the application database as well. This way I can use the same backup tool for the application.

I was wondering if this has any implication with the licensing. I know that repositories such as RMAN catalog or OEM don't require a license, because they are considered "Infrastructure databases". I know this because I have already discussed with Oracle representatives about it: OEM (Cloud Control or whatever is called today) and RMAN repositories must be Oracle databases Enterprise Edition, can only be used as repositories, no other schema can be created and in this case no license is required for the database.

Does Oracle Forms repository come with the same requirements and license? What does it happen if I install the repository on a server which already has an Oracle installation? Can I use the same Oracle Home or do I have to install it separately?

Thanks a lot

Kind regards

Paolo
