Reports in FDMEE

Hi,

FDMEE version: 11.1.2.4.210

I never used FDMEE reports and just started exploring it. I have some queries and ambiguities related to them:

1 - What purpose these reports serve?(my understanding is that we can use these reports to cross check the data imported using FDMEE, do they server any other purpose?)

2 - What is the role of BI publisher in FDMEE? (my understanding is that it is used to create or modify reports nothing else)

3 - Reports can be viewed in FDMEE without use of BI publisher? (my understanding is that they can be viewed in pdf,excel,word and HTML format)

4 - The report created is simply my sql query being executed on my source system and showing the output.

5 - During configuration we didn't configure Setup connection to Oracle BI Publisher? will my FDMEE reports work? is this option is specifically for FDMEE reports?
