Reports file format: .rdf , .rep... which is best?

Hello,

I'm using Oracle 10g R2 Forms & Reports services. We have a client that says that it's better to use the .REP format over the .RDF format.

Which one is better ? I think .RDF always would get compiled and generate the .REP form 'on-the-fly'. While, .REP format cannot be used to be edited in Reports Builder, so no modification is allowed: --> you gain security; any more advantages ?

Please advice.
