Reports Error Notification

Hey,

We have a scheduled task that runs an Oracle Report every week. If the Oracle Report fails to execute, or executes with any error message, how could we (the IT group) get notified that the Oracle Report failed to run? And, in the notification, detail what error occurred.

We are using Oracle Reports 6i and 12c so answers for both of these platforms would be very useful.
