report output not compatible

640410Mar 12 2009 — edited Mar 12 2009
Hi Friends,

I made a simple report in windows Oracle report builder 10g and the output is good and perfect display , font and alignment. I just used the default format
and the output type is screen. I can see that it look like word.doc format.
My question is....is the "default" format the i see in my screen a .doc type? or .rtf or .txt?
What viewer do I use to open it if I save it to a file.

My "real" problem is when I deploy report .rdf to our report application server is which on linux and launch it on the internet browser, the report output becomes
Greek in character when you select the output type to Postscript or PDF and the viewer is acrobat or ie or ghost viewer. If I select the output type to text
and view it again on ie browser, i get garbage output....just like when you open a word.doc in notepad.

Has anybody encounter this problem please...I am thinking if the applicaton server was not compatible with my windows reports builder. I think my application
server is 9i and my reports builder is 10g. Is there an issue with their compatibility?

If I can not render my report correctly on the application server...is it possible to deploy a client-server type of setup, where in I will put the runtime report
program on PC? both the program source and report runtime engine. Than using the web deployment which is not correctly rendered.

Please help....

Thanks a lot
