Replicate ASM disk group

In one solution, we need to replicate (disk to disk) the asm disk group luns from the source site to a remote site using the storage vendor replication method. Now, when the ASM disk group luns are replicated, could it be possible to discover the disk group (together with the contents) at the remote site, provided we have the same operating system and hardware platform and the same Oracle release? I still did not try it, however I did not find any documentation from Oracle that mention this kind of setup. We will be running Oracle 10gR2 10.2.0.3 on Unix platform.
I would assume if there is a way to move the disk belonging to a disk group to a new server and be able to discover the disk group, if this is possible then the replication method is almost the same. Again I did not find any documentation that mention moving the ASM disks to a new host and discover the disk group with its contents.
Does anyone know if Oracle write some information in the disk headers to identify the disk group definition so that when relocating the disks somewere else (physically or by replication) , then the disk group and its contents can be used?
Any ideas?
