Replacement for RULE hint...

Hi Guys,

I m pretty new to sql hints. :(

We have a query that works on a view (a product view, which we cant change, unfortunately).

Normally, the query goes really slow so I asked our in-house DBAs for some assistance. They came back with the idea of RULE hint. However, reading more on that hint suggested that rule hint is not encouraged, sort of deprecated. Any, btw, the query works really really fast with that hint put in.

So, I was wondering, is there not a replacement for that hint.

We are on 9i (9.2.0.8) right now, but plan to move to 10.2.0.3 very soon.
