Removing NetBackup

SherrieKMar 25 2014 — edited May 5 2014

Oracle RDBMS 11.1.0.7

We are moving to a new RMAN solution where we write directly to a dedupping device, away from the NetBackup product.

When installing NetBackup we used /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/oracle_link to create a softlink to $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/lib/libobk.so.  And then it does a make.

The databases attached to that home had to be down of course.

This was done before I was involved with our RMAN implementation, so I'm backtracking and trying to understand what was done so that I can undo it.

I have asked our backup guys to touch base with Symantec for unlinking instructions or a script, but I'm taking the chance here to see if someone else has already done this.

The other weird part about this is that since writing directly to the deduppling device, I have created a new recovery catalog and registered the database there.  So its default channel is disk.   The full and archivelog backups went well, but in a crosscheck, delete expired, delete obsolete, database preview, validate and report ... all of these are looking for sbt_tape looking for stuff.  I'm not sure where it's looking for that, it has to be the control file.
