remove leading/trailing spaces on CLOB

Douglass DavisNov 4 2010 — edited Nov 4 2010
Is there any function to remove leading/trailing spaces on a clob. I noticed there is a dbms_lob.TRIM but it's not the same as TRIM. If not, can any one recommend a way to do this?

Version Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 - Production

More about this: what I am trying to do is see if one trimmed clob value is equal to another trimmed clob value.

Thanks
