Remote X color problems with SunPCI III and CDE

807557Nov 19 2009
Hi All,

I have an E420R with a SunPCI III installed. It works fine but the display on remote X servers (both in Windows and Linux - xming and xorg resp.) of the Windows XP splash screen and desktop is corrupted by dropped blue color information - so everything looks yellow, green, and red. The "Windows XP" splash screen has no blue at all - once Windows XP boots, large parts of the screen are OK but icons and the hardware cursor background also show the loss of blue color, so that the mouse leaves a trail of yellow behind it, and all icons are colored yellow, green, and red. I had thought this might be a problem with my specific X server but have confirmed that the problem exists on two independent X servers, thus likely originates in the Solaris software. Another indication of the problem outside of the SunPCI III display - the CDE login splash screen is not the general cyan color of the greeter screen, but again shows a loss of blue color so that one has a greenish yellow splash and "Sun" logo in the upper left superimposed on the usual cyan pixmap. This only occurs when logging into CDE and not JDS.

Again, if I try to install RedHat on a SunPCI III image disk, the boot screen is missing blue colors, so this is not originating in Windows XP, nor in the SunPCI software at all.

Please redirect me if this is the wrong forum.

thanks in advance - drl
