Relocate Oracle on VMWare to a new SAN

970159Jun 8 2016 — edited Jun 23 2016

Hi,

I have a client who is closing a data centre so is moving everything to their other data centre in a different part of the same city.
They have opted to lift and shift all the existing hardware except for the san storage since they already have sufficient at the other

data centre. There isn't a lot of oracle to move but it does include a 2-node 11g RAC on vmware so my question is this:

Will the tools used to migrate the vmware guests also move everything on the existing san storage to the new i.e. the oracle binaries,

datafiles etc. or will it just move the os so we will need to move the files on the san by some other method?

I'm already thinking RMAN to move the databases on the physical machines but wondered if I may need to do the same for the virtuals.

Thanks.
