We are currently running our Oracle databases on IBM P running AIX 7.2. As we migrate our SUSE Linux servers over to Oracle Linux a discussion has started about migrating our Oracle Databases from AIX to Oracle Linux as well. One question that rose which I don't have an answer is around relinking. Apparently when AIX gets patched, including live kernel patching, the Oracle databases need to be relinked once completed. When running on Oracle Linux does relinking still need to happen? What about after reboots?
This would be a huge win if three is no relinking involved with patching, rebooting or if we used Ksplice and did live kernel patching.
