Release space in Tablespace after deleting records

Hello Guru's,

I am having an application using Oracle as backend. The application has an option to archive the data records, but even after deleting almost 1/3rd of the records the space occupied by the tablespace is not released and its usage is increasing. I'll appreciate your help to make me understand this behaviour and how to resolve this.
