relationship of Flashback retention and undo retention

If db_flashback_retention_target is 1440(which means 24 hours) and undo_retention is 900 ( which means 15 mins)

Than what should i suppose?
I read on a site that you can flahsback upto the undo that is available, than why flashback is 24 hrs

Whats the link between both the retentions

i m really confused on this
