Relation between assignment and element entry

Hi Experts / Gurus,

I have few small doubts (forgive if it seems silly but I am trying to understand the functionality of EBS HR system)

I need to understand how assignment and element entry and element entry value are co-related.

How they function in HR Payroll system.

If there is any manual or tutorial then please let me know.
