reg: text item initial value

hi frs,

i have created a form with text item and i have given initial value to that item.

when i open the form item is not showing the initial values.

i have placed a clear button in the form to clear the form once i clear the form i am able to see the initial values.

why it is so?

how to rectify this problem.

help pls.
