I have state name data with Ascii extended characters, the examples of which are given below:

Corrèze
Côte-d''Or
Côtes-d''Armor
Finistère
Hérault
Isère
Lozère
Nièvre
Puy-de-Dôme
Pyrénées-Atlantiques
Pyrénées (Hautes)
Pyrénées-Orientales
Rhône
Saône (Haute)
Saône-et-Loire
Sèvres (Deux)
Vendée
I need to :

insert these data in a table.. i think i have to use ASCII codes for it or is it any other way?

How will a user be able to search the above states.. I mean what will be the behaviour of above states when searched with LIKE operator or = search...?
-
will indexes on state column be used in the above cases..?
-
any other things that i need to keep in mind while working with such data..
