refresh select list - keep value

Tom vd DuinDec 2 2012 — edited Dec 3 2012
Hi all,

I'm having a problem where I don't have a solluion for. Maybe someone can help?

The (simplified) situation is as follows:
There are 2 select lists in my page:
- one with articles (you see the artile name and the price). The source of this select list is a query over collection ARTICLES.
- one with countries (source isn't important)

When a user runs the page, the contents of the select list with the articles is defined by a process that calls an procedure in a database package; that package fills the ARTICLES collection. So far, so good. But when the user selects a country from the second select list, that same procedure is called, updating the collection ARTICLES, because for some countries, the price is different. But how can I refresh the select list, while keeping the same article selected? When I issue a dynamic action of type refresh, the value of the select list is cleared. If I backup the value before refreshing the select list and after refreshing, set the value of the select list doesn't work either.

I hope the above is clear enough. Otherwise I'll setup an example on apex.oracle.com.

Thanks for your answers in advance!

Edit: Version of Apex is 4.2
