Refresh Region on the Page 1 from Page 2 with AJAX

Hi all,

is it possible to refresh the region on the page 1 from the page 2 using AJAX functionality?

Following scenario:
I have 2 pages: Page1 has one data region. Page 2 is in the IFRAME on the page 1.
With the Click on the Link on the Page2 I would like to refresh only the data region on the Page1.
I have employed the Andrew's article on http://www.themoreuknow.net/blog/archive/2007/07/03/refreshing-apex-reports-via-ppr/
and this works. But only using the Link on the page, where the region positioned.
The Link on the page2 does not working. Only after Refresh the region will be refreshed.

Does anybody have an idea?
