Reducing the backup and restore time

User01Jan 30 2012 — edited Jan 30 2012
Hi,

We have a schema which is 256GB, out of which 1 table is 21GB. Production export backup time is taking 9 hours 30 mins, time to restore the export backup is taking 2 days using import. Pls let me know what are the ways to improve the design of the data model and also reducing the backup and restore time.

one way is to reduce the time of normal export using expdp and also using impdp to import. When coming to the data model we have to partition the table which is above 2 GB.
If we use hot backup for refreshing the database from production FTP transfer rate is taking almost 1 day. What are the other ideas that can help improve in reducing the backup and restore time.

Thanks
