Recursive sessions - definition of ??

12686Jul 10 2003 — edited Jul 15 2003
I've just discovered that the Oracle 9i database
documentation talks about "recursive sessions"
in two places (once in "Database Reference" and
once in "SQL Reference"). Both reference are in
paragraphs explaining the SESSIONS Init.Ora parameter.

Now, I've heard of (and kinda think I understand g)
of recursive SQL statements, recursive transactions and
autonomous transactions. But hard as I try, I cannot
remember having come across a definition of "recursive
session", and I couldn't find one in Oracle's Master Glossary either.

Would one of my highly esteemed colleagues out there happen to know that definition and be willing to share it with the rest of us?

Any piece of information about those elusive li'l things
would be highly welcome.

All the best
Michael A. Istinger

(P.S.: Don't beat me up too badly if I'm the only guy
on the face of this planet who hasn't heard about
recursive sessions yet. g)
