recovery catalog best practice

Hi there,

I want to ask you about your recovery catalog best practices
should it be separate server, how to backup it, should I have standby recovery catalog, etc. ?

we have dc and rdc and about 20 databases, we do backups to tapes and we use recovery catalog (in dc 11.2.0.3) on separate lpar on aix 7.1
I mostly wonder how to protect it
