Hello,

I heared that to save CPU cycles and resources it is recommended to backup standby database instead of Prime database. i have AIX 5.3 running over HACMP Oracle 9i RAC. I have a physical standby.

What i am looking for to backup this standby database and recover in standlone machine. I have tried several things but i am not sure i am doing right or wrong..

1) i took backup of controlfile from Primary and backup of standby database. - Didnt work
2) taken binary control file from standby box and tried to recover database - Didnt work
3) As controlfile is standby controlfile so i cant use recover database using backup controlfile..

If any body has any experiance on this . please share.. What could be process to recover a standby database.

Many thanks
