reclaim the space from the tablespaces

saurabh.jec@gmail.comJun 7 2017 — edited Jun 7 2017

Hi Experts,

We are having 11.2.0.3 database,  in which we are having 1 tablespace have allocated size 1.2 TB and out of which only 330 GB is used and around 950 GB is free.

BUt we are not able to reclaim the space due to HWM is not reset to actaul positions on many of the segments.

Shrinking the segments is not seems a feasible option as there are 2000+ tables.

So I am thinking to move the tables to different tablespace but as this is a critical database, we are having a physical standby database can I do move of objects  in standby database by opening it in read/write mode and make it primary and than do it on the same on old primary ? is it work ? please advice the approach

standby database is in maximum performance mode.

Thanks

Saurabh
