realtime updates of excel cells with java, using DDE or other solution ?

Hello,

I'm getting market data (quotes, etc) on a UDP feed that I'm parsing in a Java app, and distributing to connected clients.

I'd like to add an "excel updates" functionality to the server, so that cells in a spreadsheet would be updated in realtime when new UDP data is received and processed by the server.

I could use DDE for this task, I've actually found 2 vendors offering java-DDE server solutions, but I'm wondering if there's any other smarter technology to use...
I've seen pointers to COM/ActiveX, but don't really know if that could be applied to this specific problem

does anyone have some advice to share about all that ?

thanks

bastien
