RAISE_APPLICATION_ERROR message size

Hi there! I would like to know if 1) is it possible to increase the size of the RAISE_APPLICATION_ERROR message and 2) how? I have read that the maximum length of an Oracle error message is 512 characters but I am not sure. Could you help me, please? Thanks anyway, Victor.
