RAC vs. single instance published benchmark results?
We are considering purchase of RAC and I have been unable to find a published benchmark that allows me to directly compare RAC and single instance performance. We do not have a high availability requirement, so RAC would be for scalability only.
This benchmark information is desirable because Oracle license is by CPU so we are interested in the best performance per CPU.
So far I have found that TPC.org has only one (four year old) published TPC-C result for RAC. SAP SD benchmark does not have any published results for RAC. Neither does Siebel benchmark. Oracle Applications Benchmark - see http://www.oracle.com/apps_benchmark/index.html - does include RAC and non-RAC systems, but the home page contains this warning, "results comparison(s) between Single Instance versus RAC is also discouraged."
Any suggestions?
