RAC Stretch Cluster utilizing ASM Mirroring on EMC Clarion

402102Jul 23 2008 — edited Oct 25 2008
Our company is just starting the installation of components to support an Oracle Stretch cluster. Our plan is to use ASM mirroring to take care of data redundancy. The sites are physically close enough that we will not need black fiber. I should further comment that there is private fiber connecting the sites with redundant paths.

Here is my dilemma, from a DBA's perspective I can state and communicate the concept; however, the system engineers are requesting configuration specs for the hardware devices.

We have (or will have installed) the following:

Site A: EMC Clarion CX3-80, MDS 9509, Cisco router 6509
Site B: EMC Clarion CX3-40, MDS 9216a, Cisco router 6509
Both A&B: Cisco 3550 (QTY 2: one per site) for the Interconnect

Oracle database 10GR2 will be hosted on HP DL380s (2 nodes) plus multiple HBAs with Linux SUSE 10 for the operating system.

My questions are as follows:

1) whether any member has a current similar environment
2) any tips or information as to how to configure EMC's SANs to present them each to each Oracle node.

Any thoughts or tips on further research would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
