RAC nodes with different number of CPU cores

Is it ok to have 2 nodes of RAC cluster having different number of cores assigned? e.g. I don't have capacity to provision 12 cores each node so can I go for Node 1 with 4 cores and Node 2 with 20 cores? Is this kind of setup supported? What kind of challenges can come due to this kind of setup?

I have the option of creating 3 node RAC with 4, 8, 12 cores each, will this be better option then 4,20 cores 2 node RAC?
