RAC-node timesync with ctssd

Peter_L_Jan 24 2017 — edited Jan 25 2017

Hi,

for our upcoming RAC migration to Oracle 12c (from Windows to OL 7.3) , I have to to decide to use NTP for timesyncronisation between clusternodes or use the Cluster Time Synchronisation Service Daemon (ctssd) in active mode. As I read, if you have a configured NTP then will ctssd run in observer mode only and print warnings out due time drifts. My question: How can I say to the ctssd, if I want it to use in active mode, what the reference time source is? This timesource should be a NTP source. I did not found any MOSC how to config ctssd using a NTP source.

Does overall anybody use ctssd in active mode, or it is better to use NTP at OS-Level for syncronisation?

Reagard Peter
