RAC installation just to have an ACFS filesystem

GI version : 11.2.0.4 (will be applying Jan2017 PSU)

OS : Oracle Linux 6.8

My application needs to use a shared filesystem. Due to some technical limitations, it cannot use OCFS.

So, I have been asked to install Grid Infrastructure in a two nodes. Once installation is complete, I need to configure ACFS. No DB needs to be installed. The application installed in these machines will be using the ACFS filesystem.

Linux admins have only allocated public IPs for each node. These public IPs will be resolved via DNS.

For VIP and SCAN IPs , can I just use /etc/hosts file for name resolution ? I am not going to install a DB here, so no application will be needing the VIPs or SCAN IPs.

Moreover there is too much red tape (CRs ) to get set aside an IP and get it resolved via DNS in my shop.

Any suggestions, recommendations related to this activity are welcome.
