everything was fine yesterday but today i can see ORA-00600 filled in the alert log file. why has been the error caused? only thing i did was startup some time ago but then why this sudden error?

i really do not require any direct help but only some sort of guideline that would enable me to find the root cause? i mentioned my database and os in the subject for possible indications?

any comments and suggestions are also welcome depending on the contents of those comments and suggestions..
