RAC 11gR2 installation does not proceed on Virtual Box, hardware required for studying RAC installat

Hello, experts, this is Avinash, a new RAC student. First of all, please, accept my sincerest apologies if this is not the correct place for this kind of question, but for RAC installation issues, I thought Oracle would be the best place to post my queries.

I am using a Windows 7 Pro 64 bit as my host OS and RHEL 5 as my virtual machines for studying RAC. I am trying to install an 11gR2 2 node RAC cluster for getting introduced to RAC.

The two virtual machines have 3 GB ram each and I have configured swaps of 6 GB each. Also, there is enough temp space on both the nodes. The DNS configuration is successful too, as I am able to NSLOOKUP the nodes. The runcluvfy.sh runs successfully. The ASM disks are also configured. I am using the shareable disk (thick provision disks) feature from Virtual Box for shared disks. I have created the required groups and the users too. I think, thus, I can safely conclude that I have done all the necessary configuration correctly.

Whenever I run ./runInstaller, the installation gets stuck at either the language selection screen or the add node information screen or sometimes at the first screen where I choose the Advanced Installation option. After a minute or two, I invoke the OUI, the OUI hangs and the fan starts rotating very fast and the CPU usage goes high.  As far as I understand I should not get stuck at any of these screens. But the installation does not proceed further. I tried it lots of times and it's very frustrating. I tried it several times, tried it after rebooting the host as well as VMs and it's the same result.

When I check the CPU usage on the host machine it shows 31 - 45 %, varying in this range and the fan is rotating very fast.

Let me also tell you the processor I have on my Dell Inspiron 5510 notebook; it's Intel Core i5 2410M CPU with 2.30 GHz.  It has 4GB preinstalled RAM and I have added 8GB to it. Thus, the total RAM is 12GB, out of which 6 GB is for 2 virtual machines. It is a 5 to 6 years old laptop actually. I have borrowed it from my friend.

Could it be that the processor is not able to handle the load?

I think yes, but I am not sure. I don't have much understanding of the hardware side of this very big computer world.

Coming to the conclusion that my laptop is not able to handle it, I am thinking of buying a new Lenovo e470 Thinkpad with Intel Core i5 7200U 3.1Ghz 8GB RAM notebook or a Dell Vostro 5568 with the same configuration. These laptops cost around USD 1100. It would be very very very expensive for me. Hence, this question.

Could you experts please help me understanding if there is any mistake I am doing or should I get a new laptop for RAC studies. Also, if my conclusion is correct, and as per your expertise and understanding, is either the Dell Vostro or Thinkpad a good choice for RAC 2 node installation.

Becuase if the runcluvfy.sh

./runcluvfy.sh stage -pre crsinst -n node1,node2 -fixup -verbose

./runcluvfy.sh stage -post hwos -n node1,node2 -verbose

give me a green signal, I think I am good with configuration.

Again, please accept my sincere apology if I am asking this question at a wrong place.

Thank you.
