Does the YY format in dates look ONLY at the current century unless otherwise specified?
For example when I do:
select last_name, to_char (hire_date, 'DD-MON-yYYY')
from employees
where to_date (hire_date, 'DD-Mon-YY') < '01-Jan-99';
it gives me no output because all my hire_date's are before 2000.
hence is Oracle only reading dates from 2000-2099? Because overall I obviously have hire_dates before 2099, just not in the same century.
